A Thursday gathering at the Third National Bank considered promoting city and county enterprises. J. B. Quigley spoke on Sedalia's prospects. no concrete plans were made, but a follow up meeting was promised to outline definite steps for development.

J. C. Hatton, city assessor, marks his seventy six years with best wishes. Born in 1825 in Madison county Kentucky, he moved to Boone county Missouri as a child and later to Pettis county. He has served as county assessor twice and is in his second term as city assessor while continuing farming and business work.
Henry Mussman of the Boston Cafe married Miss Katie Keuck last night in a pretty church ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kueck.
Local notice reports Brook's Skeeter Regulator product sold at Bard's Drug Store for 10 cents. It highlights an affordable remedy aimed at clearing pests.
Plans for the William J. Lemp building at 211 South Ohio Street arrived Thursday evening with E. G. Cassidy the local agent. They are on exhibition at Hurley & Co. on East Third Street for review by leading contractors. The project aims to finish this fall with a red brick exterior and stone trim. ground floor to be saloon space, interior to feature a handsome design, and the Dunnigan Harris saloon area likely to become a restaurant.
Mrs. Nancy Dillard of this city, mother of Sheriff Joe Dillard and Deputy Bud Dillard, is part of a five generation group photographed August 29 in Olathe Kansas. The Dillard matriarch, age 75 last June, appears with Thomas Jefferson Hughes Susannah Hughes Wallace Genevra Wallace McKinney and Susan Lucille McKinney, all of Stanley Kansas, all described as hale and hearty.
Deputy U S Marshal Mc Kenna of Jefferson City praised Sedalia for its recent conduct. For over a year there has been no arrest for counterfeiting nor bootlegging, and no complaints of such offenses.

Friday a westbound freight and a stock train collided west of the depot. Engine 834 struck a flat car carrying three water tanks, derailing it, and became wedged. Engine 898 was stuck until a Sedalia wrecking train cleared the scene by 6 o clock. No injuries reported.
H J Marvin chief engineer of the St Louis Kansas City and Colorado railroad died at 1 oclock Thursday at Eldon Missouri from pneumonia. He had directed the location of the new line west from Union to Kansas City for the past year and recently fell ill after returning from work at Eldon, a junction on the Missouri Pacific lines. His remains will be moved to Kansas City for burial Saturday.
Secretary of State Sam B. Cook issued a certificate of incorporation to the Ava Northern railroad company for 140000 dollars. The line will run fourteen miles from Ava through Douglass and Webster counties to Cedar Gap, connecting with the Frisco railroad. Incorporators include J. H. Murray J. A. Reynolds W. J. Turner and other Ava citizens. Hospital arrivals include W F Ferguson fireman Denison Richard Evans Greenville and J W Barnes machinist helper Denison.
Messrs. Kelf and Kunkler returned last night from a business visit at Marshall. C. S. McKee, the Katy conductor, is remained unnamed in the fragment.

A major blaze at Hunt Wilkinson & Co. furniture and upholstery works on Market near Twelfth damaged the building and spread to nearby structures. Eleven bodies were removed to the morgue, with many more believed trapped in the ruins as the fire crossed Market Street amid strong winds. Dozens of people jumped to escape, many maimed.

Mrs. Anna Edson Taylor, 43, of Auburn New York, went over Niagara Falls in a barrel at 4 05 p m and survived landing at 4 40 p m. She suffered a scalp wound and is reported conscious after rescue but would not repeat the feat for a million dollars. She credits the barrel harness for saving her life and says she became unconscious during the fall.
John Rountree of Ash Grove near Springfield returned from the post office to discover his wife burned to death and the house ablaze. Authorities believe a lamp was upset while the wife was in bed, igniting bedclothes during an illness.
Last night the Nadine Winstan stock company staged Camille at Wood's Theatre. Tonight their bill features Sapho by Daudet in a distinct, non objectionable adaptation. Saturday matinee at 2 30 presents the comedy Fanchon for families.
Kenna of Jefferson City escorting Thomas F. Crowley who is charged with making and circulating counterfeit money. Crowley was tried yesterday in Jefferson City, but the jury failed to agree and he was remanded to Clinton jail for a new trial.
