The trial of Whit taker Wright, leader of the London and Globe corporation, was adjourned to the next court session after a poor showing.
Fort Riley Oct 22 The Texas regiment and the Tenth United States cavalry colored clashed over camp access as troops enforced a color line. Colored regulars defied orders and, under cover of darkness, captured a Texas camp section. General Grant commanded ten thousand troops moving from Ogden to Milford.
Milwaukee division negotiates with Mutual Life Insurance for the Old Dalby building on East Fifth Street. Lease starts December 1 with occupancy soon after school-board arrangements. Sedalia becomes headquarters for harvesting machinery sales for the West and Southwest, employing an estimated 100 workers and using the Dalby and Katy shops for offices, stock storage, and repairs.

Judge Clancy in Jutte Montana denied a temporary receiver for the Boston and Montana Mining Company but barred the firm from paying dividends to Amalgamated Copper Company. The ruling marks another win for August Heinze in the high stakes copper property litigation valued in the millions.
In Troy Missouri October 22 the defense in Clarence A Barnes trial for Rhodes Clay's killing argued self defense. John Withnell aged 17 of St Louis died from a neck spine injury suffered in a scrimmage during a game between St Louis University and Marion Sims dental college students. He was the university quarterback and was injured when thrown to the ground Wednesday.
