A Sedalia meeting on a proposed Mutual Telephone exchange reveals a contract placing control with Mr. Lobb. Stockholders discuss $50 per phone, bonds, and a 50 cent monthly fee, raising concerns about governance, costs, and impact on existing Missouri and Kansas Co. service.
L. M. Phillips of Green Ridge reported a fine sorrel horse stolen from his farm last night and offered a $25 reward for the thief. Sedalia constables were notified, as two other horses a gray and a bay were reported stolen Wednesday night from Clinton residents.
Col Ritter Dr Collins and John B Gallie returned from Warrensburg where they were defendants in a suit by Unionville to recover judgment on a bond. Principal defendant Martin had a contract to lay a well for the town and failed. John Cashman, attorney for the defense, secured the victory.
Mrs. T. E. Evans will return to her home in Las Vegas New Mexico tomorrow after visiting the family of Dr. E. C. Evans.
Albert Moore and Dollie Harlow of Clifton City received a marriage license today and wed in the city. Probate Judge Parsons performed the ceremony with D. M. Overstreet assisting. the couple is from Clifton City. Mrs. Gus Reed of Boonville visited with Mrs. Dr. Fulkerson.

First Christian church in Sedalia under Rev. Melvin Putman reports a 10 day revival filling the new auditorium. Ten accessions joined, with Miss Beulah Harris at the organ and Mrs. W. D. Steele directing music. Last night’s sermon on Obedience spurred two confessions as Putman’s earnest style earns admiration. The meetings emphasize logic and education, aided by local scenery about 30 miles from Sedalia. Attendees included Judge Parsons party: Cody Bloch Rufus Easton Sam Rosse Chas Graham Otis Rogers.
Branch No. 159 hosted a large turnout at St. Joseph hall East Fourth street with a music and literary program. Father Healy led as master of ceremonies and Miss Neoma O'Brien assisted as district organizer contributing to a successful evening. Performers included Fay Brown duo solo Mrs J D Murphy vocal Neoma O'Brien piano V Sullivan and Mamie Carroll.
The Neremgar club met at the High School with strong attendance. J H Thomas presented Col O A Crandall's poem Hades and Crandall's Stream of Life outlined universe creation. In police court Judge Burress fined Ross and Smith for a jag, Garret for stealing shoes, and Price's petit larceny case was continued.
The preacher will discuss how excuses hinder salvation and how truth leads to safety. The minister notes the community has just purchased 200 new hymn books featuring both modern selections and traditional favorites for worship.
A football game is set for Saturday at Liberty Park between Marshall High School and the Deweys of Geo. R. Smith College. Admission is 15 cents.
Judge O. E. Parsons returns from a Niangua fishing trip and describes a vast circular amphitheater formed by hills over half a mile in diameter with a whisper across the circle. He notes a natural bridge nearby and cites a local fishing spot a narrow lake about 60 feet wide and 10 feet deep.
Vocal solo by Abbie Bonner and Miss O'Brien plus piano by May Lafferty under Rev. Father Healy. After the program, the ladies served oysters, with more than two hundred portions offered to attendees.
The Knights and Ladies of America of the Sacred Heart church held a meeting at West Third Street hall and initiated eleven new members. A social will be held by the group soon.
The Cumberland Presbyterian church youth prepare festive autumn decorations for the Harvest Home Festival at the 11 o'clock service next Sunday. They will feature many of autumn's beautiful and suggestive products in the decor.
Mrs. Lieut. D. Johnson formerly Miss Mae Wallace left yesterday for St. Louis to take harp instruction this winter.
Attendees praised the poem described as crystal and pure, noting its about 2,000 lines in iambic pentameter and declaring the production meritorious. The Nehemgar club, comprised of city’s bright and learned residents, plans a future meeting where Rev. C. A. Buchanan will read a paper on Oliver Cromwell.
Peter Pehl enjoys the distinction of being first to receive heat from the new steam heating plant. All connections were made at his home yesterday and the steam was turned on. Pehl is pleased and promoting the innovation as neighbors observe the change.
The Sedalia High School football team meets State Normal of Warrensburg at Liberty Park tomorrow at 3 p.m. Admission is 15 cents with proceeds to the city’s poor school children fund. Normal players include those who beat Sedalia two weeks ago, but the home team is favored to perform better.
Four train loads of the 38th U S volunteers are expected to pass through the city this evening from Jefferson Barracks St Louis en route to San Francisco, with two more due tomorrow. A freight with baggage of the 48th passed last night guarded by 25 soldiers and passenger trains follow. The 48th comes from Massachusetts.
J M Cannon staged a season’s hit with a glove sale drawing a large crowd. Special announcement in the Sentinel and a rush of buyers forced a telegraphed restock as sales sped quickly this morning.
