Lottery Bust in Baldwin Case Goes Before Court
Four Lake county officials and citizen I H Miller of Chicago were arraigned in Grand Rapids before U S Court Commissioner Potter on charges of running and promoting a lottery using the mails. Sheriff Willis Messenger Probate Judge Ernest Nicholson County Treasurer Homer Cutler and Postmaster Elmer E Herenden faced the indictment. The scheme aimed to boost Baldwin and sell lots. It had been quiet for weeks since its earlier disruption.

Robbery on Kentucky Street Endangers News Agent
G E Miller a news agent on the Lexington branch passenger train for Van Noy Bros was held up and robbed of seven dollars last night on Kentucky street between Main and Second by two unknown negroes. The robbers demanded surrender with a gun and searched Miller but missed a two dollar bill in his watch pocket. No arrests have been made.
