Sedalia City Council minutes report sidewalk and tax actions

The Sedalia city council met with six aldermen present and several items discussed. Petitions asked for sidewalk construction on Ingram avenue and opening Quincy street, while a protest from Sedalia Electric Street Railway against light bill deductions was reviewed. Ordinances condemned unsafe sidewalks and provided brick or concrete replacements amid budget and tax list actions. Executive session followed to discuss water matters and litigations.

Missouri G A R attendance is sparse as Bronson of Sedalia and staff arrive late in Washington after delays on West Virginia sidings. Ran som post from St. Louis helps escort them to the Hotel Hamilton where the group rests after a long journey. Bronson notes many Missouri veterans are overwhelmed with urgent duties and could not travel for the encampment.

Wild western pony injures lawyer in buggy scare

Attorney J D Donnohue tried a wild four year old pony while purchasing it. The animal plunged near Collins’ livery barn on Fourth street causing Donnohue to be thrown headfirst. Clark Marney the bootblack with him escaped unhurt. Donnohue suffered cuts and bruises but no internal injuries or broken bones. He was treated at home by Dr. Woods and expected to recover in a day or two.
