Topeka, November 24. Counsel for federal convicts sentenced to life for a prison mutiny murder appeal to the federal supreme court arguing state courts held jurisdiction over the mutiny grounds.
A St. Petersburg dispatch today reports that the probability of a conflict between Japan and Russia is considered a thing of the past. There is no truth to a claim that a Japanese fleet is en route to intercept a Russian squadron headed for Korea.
A local decision rules out considering shops in Kansas City’s East Bottoms area. No further action or examination will occur regarding those facilities.
General Russell Harding reports Sedalia could host new shops with a convenient location for the system. He notes the proposal remains unsettled and stresses centering road miles from Kansas City to suit workers and homes.

George Smith and his wife aged about sixty and sixty three were burned to death in their home fire this morning in Grand Rapids Michigan. The couple had been newly married and were unable to escape the blaze.

J W Rodes of Navasota Texas, a private sanitarium patient and wealthy banker cattleman, committed death by own action by drowning in Troost Avenue park lake after two prior failed attempts to kill himself by throwing in front of cars. His body was found by a search party.
C L C Wood aged 67, a respected Pettis County resident, died Monday night at 9 at his home six miles southwest of Lamonte near Bethel church from peritonitis. Survived by wife and two sons Rev Oscar Wood and Ashby Wood. Funeral arrangements pending at Lamonte Bethel church with Rev Mell officiating. burial in Lamonte city cemetery.
The trial of Alcrow confidential secretary Governor Dockery and associates of former governors, and Thomas Barre former marshal of the St Louis Court of Appeals, opened today. They are charged with conspiring to forge German citizenship certificates to aid a 1902 election. Jos Gildie, implicated as a party to the alleged piracy, has turned state's evidence. Morrow has subpoenaed Dockery Senator Cockrell Attorney Crow and Supreme Judge Gantt to testify.
Scrippine Press Association reports the birth of a daughter to Mrs. W. K. Vanderbilt. The notice, dated November 24, states the child was born this morning.
Oberlin Carter, famed army officer and government defrauder, leaves Leavenworth prison Saturday at 5:15 am to ride to Kansas City then Chicago to meet his mother. He completes a five year sentence with good behavior credits.
