Berlin reports a fortnight ago Princess Alice wife of the Prince of Schoenberg Lippe eloped from Metnsen with one of her coachmen in a royal family scandal.
In Chicago on November 23 two non union workers from American Hide and Leather fired on a mob pursuing them. The shots wounded two mob members while the fugitives escaped unharmed.
Senate panel approves the Cuban reciprocity bill as is and sends it to the calendar. House leaders oppose adjournment plans tied to the Sudan reciprocity bill. Senator Hale predicts Canada may join the United States within twenty years. Senator Carmack calls for a post office corruption probe.
A prairie fire started by fire engine sparks burned about twenty thousand acres of cattle range in Wallace County today. The blaze spread rapidly across the plains threatening livestock and ranch holdings. No injuries reported as crews fought the flames through the day.
Leavenworth November 25. In district court Lieut. Sidney Burbank U S A sought annulment of a claimed marriage to a Vasquez Filipino widow. A recent engagement to a Kansas girl prompted the widow to file a forged marriage license and wedding certificate with the war department. Burbank alleges officials he once imprisoned forged the documents.
The Reds and Blues contested a church event at First Christian with Reds leading Sunday school and Blues ahead by an average of five. A compromise to hold a general reception in the church parlors on Tuesday night was agreed after Reds won the Sunday service count by a narrow margin of two.
At a Ministers Alliance gathering Rev Carey V Northrop outlined Sunday sermon The Spirit of Revival in the Church and prepared for next Monday a paper by Dr Will Jackson on The Race Problem The session followed usual routines.
A two story 60 by 80 foot barn three miles north of Sedalia burned Sunday night causing a loss around 5 000 with 550 insured. Gentry Bros lost their famed Waterloo Duke of Cedarvale along with four Shorthorn cows and two driving horses. No one was in the building and the fire’s origin remains a mystery.
Samuel Zimmerman died suddenly at his home Sunday morning, the cause listed as heart-related. Local authorities say no foul play is suspected. He was a longtime resident and member of the community.
Funeral services set for Tuesday for Samuel Zimmerman a Sedalia milling pioneer and Capital Feed Mills manager who died of heart failure Sunday at his home 400 East Main street. He leaves a wife and three children Ira F. Zimmerman Mamie Watson and Harry Zimmerman. He was a member of Neapolis Lodge No 153 I O O F and will be interred under that order.
Ira McDaniel who is charged with assaulting John Dolan last Friday night moved the case from Justice Smith's court to Judge Ayres court. The case was set for Wednesday.
The funeral for 19 month old Arthur Kaylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. B N Kaylor and grandson of W H Williams, was conducted at the family residence. Interment followed at the local cemetery with family and friends in attendance.
