A message from Mrs Dean Shockley requests the body be buried in Springfield Fate. The struck engine was No 288 and small bone fragments were found in its pilot.

Jefferson City reports incomplete returns show about 99 counties electing Democrats while 51 remain doubtful. It is claimed eight of the doubtful will vote Democratic, yielding 40 Democrats and 55 Republicans in the next House.
