Boy Believed Drowned as Black Coat Found by Flat Creek

Constables and helpers drag Flat Creek a deep hole 150 yards south of the bridge for a boy about twelve to fourteen believed drowned. A black coat and six fish lay on the bank, watched by a devoted dog that refused to leave the coat and howled all night, signs pointing to a drowning accident.

Proceedings show W. H. McDaniel et al. vs Burrill S. McDaniel partition report approved with $150 attorney fees to Sangree and Lamm. Other actions include Smoot v Kansas City motion to dismiss, Seda lia Electric Light sued dismissed by plaintiff, Day v Farley motion for new trial, Dowler divorce with desertion claim, and Jobe v Dehmey verdict for plaintiff $12.

Barnum Bailey's Circus Riot in Beziers Injures Five

In Beziers France on May 13 a riot broke out as 7000 people sought entry to a Barnum Bailey's show. Stoning of circus employees followed when admission exceeded capacity and five workers were hurt including a skull fracture likely to prove fatal. The crowd damaged the tent ropes.

Circus Riots Dismiss Performers After Forced Entry

Thousands swarmed the arena and overwhelmed police. Troops restored order as the show ended. tents were dismantled and plans made to move to Carcasonne. Similar disturbances occurred previously in Cette and Narbonne along the route.

A wave of burglaries in the Otterville and Clifton City area targets homes during church services. John McManus family losses include silverware and clothing, with another home on Jerry Harlan farm looted. John Harlan meat house also broken into with over 150 pounds of meat taken. A well known local figure is suspected with possible developments ahead.

Missouri Pacific to Build Large Shops in Carondelet

The Missouri Pacific and Tron Mountain railway system will construct extensive locomotive repair works on a 16 percent acre tract at Bates street in Carondelet. The Oak Hill branch passes through the area extending to Grand avenue. Chanteau avenue shops will be moved to the new site with plans for large locomotive works.

Katy May Extend Its Tracks From Paola to Kansas City

The Missouri Kansas and Texas Railroad plans a new line between Paola Kansas and Rosedale Kansas to enter Kansas City over Santa Fe tracks. The Katy now runs from Paola to Kansas City via Frisco tracks but traffic growth necessitates a parallel route. Contracts worth 2,000,000 dollars were awarded for reconstruction on Oklahoma lines. Rock Island and Colorado line survey from Versailles

Rock Island officials and chief engineer Campbell initiated a new survey from Versailles to Green Ridge Warrensburg and Kansas City to locate a nearer route. The Colorado line survey southwest of Versailles is to be abandoned and all work west of Versailles is suspended.

Miss Mollie Schlude was struck and killed by a freight train at the Evans and Howard Brick company switch in St Louis. Engineer William Study did not see her until the alarm was raised by a Negro boy. Gus Schlude, the victim's brother, blames trainmen for carelessness.
