The child of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Simond of Second Street near Liberty Park fell into a tub of boiling water while the mother scrubbed. Great flesh was burnt, with Dr. E Nasse tending the sufferer. Local updates include arrests of three women by Detective Turner, and various community notes from Sedalia.
A large number of applications have been received for the city librarian and assistant positions including those from current incumbents. Appointments are scheduled for the first Tuesday in June.
The Epworth League of the First M. E. Church will mark its tenth anniversary with exercises in the lecture room at 6 30 p m. The event vows to reflect on its decade of activity and community involvement.
An entertaining program invites public attendance with Col Hogeland featured at 8 p m delivering Mother Child and Curfew. The speaker has presented this address in major U S cities. Mayor city council and board of education have been invited to attend.
The death of ex Governor Flow er of New York caused a market panic at the New York Stock Exchange. Flow er and his associates had led the hull movement for months, and fears rose of a deeper stock decline.
Col Alexander Hogeland, termed father of the curfew and ally of newsboys, will address First M E Church on Sunday night on the topic Mother Child and Curfew. He notes 400 cities have adopted curfew ordinances with reported reductions up to eighty percent in youth arrests. The program seeks mayoral, council, and school board attendance.

Eleven tables played with Miss Mae Hawkins winning a cut glass violet bowl. Also noted are Boonville musical plans, several marriages and social visits across Pettis and neighboring counties.
The Spinsters Fortnightly Club plans its second session at the First Baptist Church on Thursday evening May 18. A large cast of named performers and a Spoondenyk children program will entertain with music from the club orchestra. An anonymous quip about a woman’s marriage ages closes the notice.

Allegations include neglect cruelty failure to provide and adultery with Etta Payne and others. Also notes hospitalizations and local court actions including drunk and trespass cases and a police docket.
Geo KE. Dugan of 116 East 5th street announces a bundle sale of wall paper starting Tuesday May 16 in small lots. Prices range from 1 cent to 5 cents per roll, with Fleishmann's ice cream soda also advertised.
