Joseph Halpin of Sweet Springs dies within three hours after illness as the epidemic of spinal meningitis spreads across Missouri and surrounding regions. Remains arrive in Sedalia. burial planned in Sweet Springs. Details note pension voucher irregularities and pending criminal actions.

Funeral set for tomorrow. Nicholson may not attend due to loss of a band. Jack Combs former Missouri Pacific freight house employee died this morning of consumption. He leaves a widow and two children. Funeral tomorrow.
The Melvin Putman presented program scheduled for Thursday night has been postponed to Tuesday night March 28 at the First Christian church. Many people wished to hear both Mr Clement and Mr Putman, prompting the postponement.
H Clay Evans, pension commissioner, warns the current lax procedure endangers pension payments and pledges corrective steps. Mrs. H F Jones and her baby Corinne returned yesterday from Marshall where they had stayed several weeks after attending the death of her sister Mrs. John R Miller.
The feeble minded Mrs. Puckett was moved from the county home to her daughter's West Fifth street residence. The daughter allegedly abused her and gained control of most of the property, leaving the old woman penniless. Authorities plan to pursue estate recovery and appoint an administrator.
W A Guenther retires and C A Guenther buys his interest, taking full ownership and management of the Sedalia dry goods firm Guenther Bros. The business has grown strong on sound practices, earning public confidence and promising continued patronage under Carl Guenther, a courteous and hospitable leader.
The democratic central committee named Peter Latsch as the alderman nominee for the First ward to fill the vacancy after Fred Helm's resignation. Latsch is a trusted Sedalia citizen with broad public confidence in honor integrity and business judgment. He is expected to draw strong Democratic support and cross over Republican voters.
