Correspondence from General Manager Sands to Mr D H Smith shows the Sedalia route was rejected due to unfavorable conditions and higher costs. The chief engineer estimated Sedalia line costs exceeded alternatives by over a half million dollars, so the railroad would not justify building via Sedalia.
Mrs. Sarah Tutt, a well known African American resident, fired two shots at her husband Bill in a Bowery dispute over 25 cents. Bill won the clash but may need a leg for some time. Tutt pleads not guilty to assault with intent to kill. trial set for 10 am Monday. she jailed in $500 bail.
In a March 1902 letter from St. Louis to Sedalia officials the St. Louis Kansas City and Colorado road board explains that although Sedalia’s site was favored by some members, higher projected construction and operation costs and lower predicted revenue led to rejecting Sedalia as the location. The letter commends Sedalia delegates but notes the decision against their proposal.

Mrs. Mary E. Campbell of Marshall Missouri filed proceedings in Clayton to secure her son Francis P. Campbell's release from the Nevada insane asylum. She alleges he was hypnotized and drugged by unfriendly acquaintances for selfish motives, under instructions of attorney Charles P. Johnson.
