A gang operating along the Sedalia Warsaw and Southwestern railroad is blamed for a string of robberies from Cole Camp to Lincoln. They shattered the Lincoln post office safe with nitroglycerine, stealing $300 to $400 and many stamps, after earlier raids on A Kreisel hardware store and other targets. Tracks washed out by rain hid their movements. The burglars are thought to be amateurs from Sedalia.
Washington March 19 President McKinley plans a late April six week western tour. Attorney General Griggs will retire and be replaced by P C Knox of Pittsburgh. A new attorney general will be named next week with further cabinet changes anticipated within three months as predicted.

The ruse mirrors his prior scheme, including a forged letter referencing a duplicate order and a unspecified trip to Oxford.
A trusted source reports the bulk of the Benjamin Harrison estate is placed in trust for his daughter Elizabeth Harrison and for grandchildren Benjamin Harrison McKee and the children of Russell B. Harrison. The estate is said to total about 300000 dollars.
