Washington reports recall talks on Gen. Lee at Havana while Rev. Northrop of Kansas City urges immediate US intervention against Spain. He demands action to aid Cuba and criticizes Spain's treatment, urging swift military readiness and national resolve.

The Maine pennant, last flag aloft on the doomed battleship, was torn from the halyards by Louis Moriniere a Franco American sailor and carried to safety. He mailed it to Chicago’s George A. Prof W A Lientz returns home to Sedalia after weeks in quarantine in Howard County. His son John Lientz of Dolores Mexico died January 31 from malignant smallpox after contact with a fruit basket from a Mexican vendor. Though at his bedside, Lientz was restricted, a telegraph line and supplies were arranged. Dr E T Bramlett treated the son and helped him recover. The quarantine was lifted March 5 1898 with a note certifying compliance.
The sheriff of Warrensburg rode the noon train through Sedalia en route to Jefferson City carrying two prisoners for the penitentiary.
Gertie Smith is in custody on a charge of disturbing the peace and will face a hearing in Justice Trusel's court tomorrow afternoon.
