A reader letters protests to The Sentinel detailing discrepancies between the mayor and finance committee reports for 1901. He cites a $1016.40 gap on water bills and a $2284.55 gap on lighting costs, asks which figures are correct, and questions how debits were transferred to credits in the six months end report. He mocks the city hall about accounting methods.
The writer tours San Antonio detailing the hot wells and Mission sites Conception de la Acuna and San Jose with notes on the Alamo history. They describe a dress ordinance clash with Carrie Nation referenced by a women’s club, local civic efforts and a cooking school event. A streetcar accident injures four young girls near the ambulance.
News from Fort Smith Arkansas confirms engineer George Kerr of the Iron Mountain line was killed when his engine 456 jumped the track and toppled five boxcars. Kerr, formerly with Missouri Pacific, left Sedalia for funeral arrangements with relatives in Pine Bluff and Sedalia.

Miss Hale the architect of Columbia Missouri says she was falsely accused in a libel suit. She seeks $20,000 in damages. Prince Henry arrived in St. Louis with an ovation at Union station and visited the World’s Fair site before departing.
At the Kansas City Grand Opera house during The Belle of New York Miss Mae Sailor broke into laughter after a baby cried during the line When I am married. Burrill Barbaretto and Miss Sailor could not restrain themselves and the audience urged a reprise. The second stanza was not finished. Miss Hale of Columbia, Mo., sues American Engineering for libel.
The Jeff City Press notes Tom Reed, a Sedalia printer, died after being struck by a train on a Georgia track near White Oaks. The engineer reportedly gave no signal. Reed was buried locally before the body was moved for Christian burial. Remains may be sent to Jefferson City for interment.
W G Pendleton a lawyer is nominated for mayor by Boonville Republicans. Formerly a leading Democrat he left his old political associates. He is brother in law of A W McKenzie of Sedalia. Try to snow us under at Longans Sedalia Steam Laundry.
While switching at Overton on the river route line the cars jumped the side track and crashed into the new depot, demolishing it. Overton lies two stations east of Boonville. Repairs will commence immediately.

Ferrell of the M K T travels to Dresden Ohio for his sister's funeral. Mrs Eleanor Concannon dies in Kansas City wife of former Missouri Pacific conductor W P Concannon. W A Cromer and J L Cross resign as dispatchers.
The Belle of New York company of about sixty two performers plus a carload of special scenery arrived in Sedalia from Kansas City this afternoon. Advance sale of seats suggests a packed big house for the show tonight.
The fifth annual Triumphal tour arrives with 62 performers led by E. J. Connelly and Beulah Dodge. Critics call Hunting For Hawkins the cleverest farce in years. John L. Kearney stars with George D. Melville and a broad supporting cast. We also note a plug for Longan's Laundry.
