Washington reports conservative U S senators doubt a delay of war with Spain is likely and say the Maine explosion may be linked to an administration source. Alger has orders ready to mobilize militia, rush war materials, and prepare trains for transport, with a bronze Maine disaster tablet approved.
In Liberty and Clay counties the jury shows little hope of convicting Bettie Carr for maiming 3 year old Belle Carr. The case was continued to the June term and neighbors fear testimony about cruelty is lost with a key witness dead. Mrs. Carr remains in the same home where Belle died after being taken away on October 10. Only relatives attend, and public sentiment stands against her.

John Temple was fined 10 dollars by Judge Bosserman after stealing a suit of clothing from the boarding house of Mrs. Hill on East Third Street last night. Graphaphone Entertainment featured at a North Washington Avenue residence with Mr. H. T. King and large attendance reported. Dr. F. B. Fesler and his former wife, divorced three years, were remarried today by Rev. Dr. J. B. Fuller at the First Baptist Church after thirty years of separation.
A party was held at the Hogan residence on South Montgomery Street last night in honor of Miss Susie Money. Guests enjoyed games and refreshments, and the celebrant received many presents.

A 100 man Klondike party left Mexico Missouri by rail to Alaska and the Yukon. They travel via Otummwa Mason City St. Paul Tacoma and will sail March 7 from Tacoma on the City of Seattle to Dyea. Captain B F Purcell guides the expedition along with mining interests and local backers accompanying to Tacoma.
A cargo of 537 reindeer from Lapland arrived in New York aboard the Manitoba to support a relief expedition into the Klondike. Deputy Quartermaster General Amos B Kimball oversees transfers to ears while the herd travels via Chicago, St Paul, Seattle, and on to Skaguay, with Laplanders accompanying the deer and their families.
Warrensburg reports a grand jury indicted William Cobb and John Shackelford for obtaining money under false pretences from visitors who sought to view the petrified woman. Shackelford pleaded not guilty, bond set at 200 dollars, trial scheduled for June 1. Cobb is reportedly in Illinois.
Judgment rendered in Pettis circuit court for James Black burn against Henry Pahde on a $75 contract plus interest. Malinda Brown versus City of Sedalia damages continued. Midland Savings and Loan Co versus Amanda Koock et al ejectment with possession and one cent damages. John Stintson habeas corpus petition filed. Henry Kichner et al appellants account judgment against defendant and sureties with stay of execution to May 1.
Tony Williams, who won first prize in the big cake walk at Topeka, returned to Sedalia last night and is arranging a new cake walk to be held here soon.
A class riot at the University of Missouri in Columbia disrupted a freshman reception. Seniors and juniors attacked, burned a dressing room, cut power and gas, damaged hoses, and attempted to flood rooms. Police detained a graduate law student, later released on bond. university discipline may expel several students.
At last night's session the Se dalia Federation of Labor drew an unusually large attendance and admitted five new members. Committee reports show organization work advancing and carpenters masons and builders likely to obtain charters soon.
