The Sedalia Civic Federation faces hush meetings and withheld identities as it debates plans to close saloons and observe Sundays. Reports say beer at Liberty Park may have influenced the revival while officials deny open agitation, amid local arrests and a sidewalk vandalism incident.
The Beaman picnic drew a crowd on Thursday. In a live pigeon shoot Joe B Roe defeated Seymour Stewart by fourteen to one, winning a gold medal from M A Monsees. Other shooters included A B Dempsey Will Cox and Will Stewart with varied scores. Roe also won a clay pigeon event.
Adam Schibli attempted to drink from a beer keg last night and was fined three dollars in police court this morning. He works hard, but the incident reflects a lapse in judgment during a night out.
J C Hagan clerk at Globe Clothing Clinton recounts waking to a fall from a third story window during the night. He believes he walked in his sleep and dropped to the ground but sustained no serious injuries, with no bones broken or notable bruising.

Jessie Morrison was found guilty of manslaughter in the second degree for the murder of Mrs. Olin Castle in Eldorado Kansas. The jury deliberated nearly thirty hours with one juror reportedly holding for acquittal. An appeal was filed, and Morrison was remanded to a local cell as her family left. Her brother Hayward Morrison and Olin Castle performed in a city park concert nearby during deliberations.
Dick Cookman, son of J. W. Cookman, visited town and Sheriff Dillard handed him the old musket used by his father to kill John McBride. The scene marks a somber moment in local memory.

Mrs Emma B Manchester supreme worthy guardian of the Woodmen Circle and W N Dorwood supreme manager will meet with Queen City grove No 1 tonight. After business a social session and refreshments will follow.
Nevada Maroons traveled to Appleton City and were beaten 20 to 6. Blanchard, the host team captain and second baseman, impressed early as Appleton City played strong defense and offense.

The State fair executive committee meets July 1 to outline an emergency hospital at the fair grounds due to possible accidents and illness. Dr Will Shirk is slated to head the effort with help from Second Regiment hospital unit. If water mains delay, the fair will install a pump and lay its own pipes.
Derby Connecticut June 28 Burton Griffin a 30 year old athlete died after a kissing bug bite at the Farrell foundry. He noticed a sting on his arm two weeks earlier followed by illness and arm swelling. Workmen fear the bug remains in the foundry and panic at a stray soot fragment.
