Chauncey Dewey Clyde Wilson and Will McBride held without bail on murder charges in the Berry family killings arrive in Topeka to seek habeas corpus before the supreme court. A commissioner will be named to take testimony in Northwestern Kansas where the feud began, and the men are returned to county jail with bond unlikely during the inquiry.

Four Die In Freight Train Collision At Cole Junction

A collision occurred when one freight train crashed into another at Cole Junction late last night. Four people are reported dead, with authorities investigating the cause of the wreck and listing the victims.

Sixteen cars of freight derailed, hundreds of cattle killed or wounded. relief work and track repairs disrupted traffic for hours. Atkinson, a former Sedalian, is mourned by family and friends in Jefferson City.

Will Atkinson Dies In Wreck on Wedding Eve

Will Atkinson, a victim of the wreck, died before his upcoming marriage to Miss Emma Eding of this city. The couple had planned a July 7 wedding and preparations were underway when the tragedy robbed them of their happiness. Miss Eding, living with Mr. W. J. Letts and family, is grievously affected by the loss.

Acid Tank Wreck Tells of Fatal Train Incident

A tank of muratic acid overturned in a wreck near Sedalia. Will Atkinson’s body will arrive at 2:30 tomorrow and be taken to the cemetery. Engineer Mitchell Finnegan, injured, is in critical condition in St. Louis and may lose his sight from the acid. Funeral services are set for 11:00 tomorrow in Jefferson City.

Destructive hail storms hit Sedalia and vicinity

A severe hail storm visited Sedalia and surrounding areas causing heavy damage to fruit and crops for years. Hail nearly egg sized beat corn and wheat, shattered orchard fruit, and broke window lights in the city. Peiffer nursery suffered considerable damage, with the southeast area especially hard on wheat and corn fields.

A Great Northern train broke from its engine in Spokane yards and rolled along an abandoned track into the city. It smashed the Cristal laundry and a shack where nine men were said to sleep. Rescuers searched for victims. Five men were found alive, three dead, and the status of the remaining one was unclear.
