Milton A Mc Rae for the Scripps McRae League bought a controlling stake in the St Louis Star and merged it with the St Louis Chronicle to form the Star Chronicle starting tomorrow. The Kansas City usury trial of Jesse James, son of the famous outlaw, opens today. King Alfonso of Spain arrives in London for a week long stay with King Edward.
London reports new American ambassador Wichielaw Reid was presented to the king. Emporia Daily Republican Publisher William Stahl suspended publication. The American yacht Apache finished the trans Atlantic race one week behind the winner.
The Pettis county criminal court opened for June term before Judge Louis Hoffman. A. M. Lovins faces first degree arson charges for allegedly trying to burn his own home after a dispute with his wife. William Guyer’s grand larceny case was settled by a $1 fine and costs. J. M. Mockbee and Harry Stough cases for assault and attempt to kill and obtaining money under false pretenses were continued.
Mrs Aggie Myers of Kansas City stood trial in Liberty Missouri charged with murdering her husband Clarence Myers last year. Frank Hottman, her boyhood friend already convicted, was brought from Kansas City to testify. The state claims they killed Myers so they could wed. Hottman has confessed the motive.
A weather notice reports thunderstorms and cooler conditions arriving tonight with Tuesday forecast to be generally fair. The outlook warns of changeable skies and lower temperatures to follow a warm period.
Mrs Mackey, esteemed, died recently with Gilbert of Chicago and Miss Eliza McLaughlin of this city among those noting her. Sedalia watchers filled city cemetery for a Woodmen of the World unveiling with 3000 plus attendees. Mrs. Sarah McLaughlin Mackey aged 68 died Sunday at her daughter’s home. Memorial program included service at First M E church and a parade from lodge halls to the cemetery. Survivors include children W B Mackey George K Mackey and Mrs L P Andrews of Sedalia and Mrs Richard Morey of St Louis.
Mrs. William Gentry died last night at 311 East Fifth Street from general debility. Born in Kentucky in 1826 she lived in Sedalia many years and is survived by two children. Funeral from Mrs. Paris home Tuesday at 10. Viewing 8 to 10 before service conducted by Rev. J. M. Rudy. burial in city cemetery.

In Oran Missouri a farmer fatally shot a teen girl and then killed himself after a dispute with his sister-in-law who refused to dance with him. Investigators reported the incident as a domestic dispute turning violent.
In Oran Missouri on June 5 Harry Burton 26 a farmer shot and killed Miss Frankie Clarke 17 his sister in law then killed himself at a Rockview dance. Jealous of Clarke’s attentions Burton threatened to kill her and William Mier if she danced with him. Burton fired twice wounding Clarke and then shot himself in the chest. both bodies lay where they fell until the coroner found them.
Sunday and today marked the warmest days of the season with the thermometer in the shade registering 92 and 93 degrees.
