In Jefferson City the Joe Flory versus Joe Rice case dominates the supreme court session with talk that Flory has the best of the argument. Flory plans to resign once decided. Governor Dockery’s successor choice remains uncertain, with Rice plausibly retained. Senate updates mark open appointments, a Missouri first.
A heated Monday night House debate over Williams of Scott bill to cut main line fares to two cents per mile and branch lines to three cents drew strong opposition from Phelps of Missouri Pacific and railway unions.
Missouri officials push for a $100000 appropriation to fund the state display at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo. Secretary Robert M. Yost leads efforts with support from Williams Blair Clay and others while railroad opponents warn of fare and service impacts amid a broad Kansas City terminal improvements program costing $500000.
