Prominent Lamonte Citizen Attempts Suicide at Barn
William Duke a well known Lamonte resident and church deacon in the local Christian church attempted suicide at his barn early Tuesday morning. He shot himself in the left side missing the heart with a pistol. his condition is critical and mental distress due to illness and worry over his pension is cited. His son Arthur found him bleeding and unconscious in the entry. He leaves a wife and children and is described as financially well off but mentally unbalanced.
