A small blaze near a town limits was contained by local firefighters with no injuries reported. Fire crews evacuated nearby structures as a precaution and extinguished the flames, leaving the scene under investigation for the cause.
Bridget O Malley of St Louis County died after a man kept his wife in the home then accused her of alleged relations with her brother. The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon when a group skated near a pond and fire caused by wind spread to her clothing. An inquest was planned and a warrant issued for her husband’s arrest. The child Bridget was to be buried at Calvary cemetery.
Mrs Mary Dockery wife of Missouri's chief executive died at the governor's mansion at 5 45 AM after weeks with heart trouble. Born Mary Bird of Chillicothe Mo she had eight children none living. Family was at the bedside. funeral plans not announced.
Lee Looney Pettis county recorder reports 1267 marriage licenses issued between 1899 and 1902 with only one return. Judge O F Parsons led with 93 marriages, followed by Judge Kinsey 65 and Rev F L Cook 62. Clergy and judges dominated the Cupid tally as Pettis County’s matrimony scene spanned four years.
The Sentinel reports a box of rare black diamonds in Sedalia from a Stanley Coal company shipment in Pennsylvania. The anthracite coal, scarce for weeks, was sent directly to Sedalia and priced for customers, highlighting local merchant enterprise and Stanley Coal’s leading role.
Sedalia youths held a near full evening of eight dances at Assembly Hall with a banquet at Boston Cafe between sessions. Ada Dunlap and Louise Phipps managed the punch while the Kuhn Sisters orchestra provided music for the gathering and late return home.
