Miss Ida Klingenberg, 15, adopted daughter of H S Klingenberg at Sweet Springs Missouri, took a large morphine dose in despair over a love affair. Dr T S Lackey’s prompt aid saved her life. Mansfield and other Missouri items follow, including a hanging sentence in Hannibal for Mrs Alice Nessenhewer and various local incidents.
El Paso reports Grant G. Gillette once Kansas cattle king fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution and is now said to work as a day laborer in Chihuahua. He and his wife are described as in very straitened circumstances.

A Missouri Pacific rear end collision near Scott Jefferson City killed brakeman Compton of St Louis and injured several crew members. Engineer Veolkel and fireman Hall were hurt. engineer Gallagher escaped after his engine derailed and crushed the caboose. The crash, blamed on a grade and lost control, left wreckage strewn for rods with the line soon cleared.
Citizens of Sedalia believe the Missouri Pacific will honor the 1873 contract guaranteeing Sedalia as the permanent shops site and divisional point with no new shops between St. Louis and Kansas City. The company reportedly applied for $10 000 under the old terms and signed it again in open council as trains operate. J L Phelan a High line brakeman is laid off while Superintendent J A Davis of the Katy travels to St Louis. Brakeman Mosher of the Missouri Pacific attends court at Warrensburg and Charles Games, B of L F committee chair, returns from St Louis and DeSoto.
