The first hearse in a week carried Detective Farnsworth to his funeral in Chicago. Police officers followed in carriages and guarded the church during the service. No strikers or pickets appeared at the scene. Governor hanged in effigy.
Regional ads promote Florida oranges praised as best in years with prices per dozen and per can for plum pudding and candies. Listings mention Richardson and Robbin’s Plum Pudding at 45 can, butter cups chocolates and creams, English walnuts pecans almonds, and cracked pecans priced per pound with multiple 19th century price formats.
Mrs J P Taylor appeals to officers for aid in locating her husband who has vanished with their baby. Police pursue leads as inquiries broaden.
Neosho police are told of J P Taylor who formerly ran the Dewey restaurant taking his one year old child after leaving the mother at breakfast. Taylor was last seen at Hailer's saloon on Fast Third street with the child and said he had to catch a train bound for Neosho where relatives live. Authorities wired Nevada officers to stop him if found on the Katy railroad. The mother is distressed and seeks the child’s return.
All banks post office library courthouse and many stores will close Friday allowing employers and employees to celebrate Christmas.
The T L M club will host a dance Tuesday evening to honor their young gentlemen friends and on New Year’s Eve the young men will entertain in return for the popular club of young ladies.
Public schools of the city close for holiday vacation with farewell exercises. At the High school auditorium the Junior class presented Christmas Chimes. Summit grades combine in paired groups for similar programs. Southeast school to entertain grades one and two. Vacation lasts until January 4, 1904.
Detroit dispatch reports Governor Bliss of Michigan was hanged in effigy last night in an Ann Arbor show window to protest his pardon of Frank Andrews, the noted bank wrecker of Detroit.
Kansas City, Mo. Dec 24 A dispute over a bill led a local furniture company to sue out a writ of attachment for Webster Davis furniture. Davis once assistant secretary of the interior under McKinley and a prosperous former Kansas City mayor, later left for New York after resigning from the cabinet and backing the Boer side. He was twice elected mayor and sought the 1896 Republican governor nomination.
Horace Lee died from bullet wounds after killing his sister in law yesterday afternoon. The Missouri incident occurred in Kansas City as investigators pursue details and motive surrounding the fatal violence.
A morning blaze at Judge Wrights residence in Houstonia damaged part of the roof around nine o clock. Officials suppose a defective fire caused the fire. Damages are not yet estimated.
D. E. Richardson, president of the Richardson Grain Company, died in Santa Barbara after a career operating grain interests in Chicago, Kansas City, Galveston and Gainesville Texas, Memphis, Winnipeg and Montreal. The obituary notes his leadership across multiple ports and markets.
Washington December 24 the Secretary of the Treasury announced a move that will place the Philippine Friar lands bonds on parity with regular government bonds and they will be sold on an exchange basis.
The east bound Wabash passenger train crashed into a freight near Mexico Missouri. Engineer Thomas Whitten of Moberly is trapped under wreckage likely dead. G A Blodgett of Bussay Iowa and C R Lamont of Sandusky Montana likely fatally injured. Seventy five passengers were badly shaken.
Prairie Queen Lodge No. 1409 C M A holds a social and business session at Elkshall Saturday night with a banquet. Out of town members include J. Howard Bradley Paul Spicer Gus Lewis Harry Slagle John Gornall of Kansas City Chester Lewis Pierre Waddell Sangrain Elliott West of St Louis and Charles Diffen daffer of Indian Territory.
A crowded police court saw Aug Gustin Hy Johnson Jen Lindsey Jas Darrowe Ed White Jno Warren Jno McMahon and A F Blaine charged with drunkenness pleading guilty and fined five dollars plus costs. Those with money paid fines first. others received stay of execution and thirty minutes to leave town to spend Christmas with families. Other defendants were Thos Burton Jas Bailey Carrie Banks and Mary Gorrilla with charges of petit larceny. Burton and Bailey jailed sixty days. Banks case continued. Gorrilla case dismissed. John K Gamm, witness against the two girls, jailed thirty days for associating with prostitutes.
Calvary church will give the Sunday school a Christmas tree at Gregg's hall this evening at 7 o'clock. The program includes songs and speeches by pupils and the presentation of honor roll certificates.
Miss Edna Crenshaw hosted about fifty society women on Wednesday at her West Sixth street residence for a domino party. First prize went to Mrs. J D Ritchie for a hand painted vase and second to Mrs. C C Lawson for a Gibson pen sketch. Refreshments included chicken salad potato chips pickles coffee and mint wafers.
Connellsville Pa December 94 A Baltimore and Ohio Dequesne Limited wreck leaves up to 68 dead as morgue crowds grow, doors locked to stem excitement and police arrest two whites and two blacks for robbing the dead and dying.

The Erastus Canning, en route from New Haven to New York, struck Copps reef and sank early today. Thirty passengers escaped in lifeboats in night clothes, two boats went down, and six passengers including Mrs Ida Fisher and Miss H Sapiro were unaccounted for as the vessel settled with the deck above water.
Ss. Connor, son of John Connor, a well known farmer near Lamonte, came from San Francisco where he has been for three years to spend holidays with his parents and friends. He holds a good position in the Golden Gate City.

J H Sullens returned from Jefferson City after contesting Merchants Bank against Prudential Insurance. Former agent J F Hendricks forged a beneficiary name and cashed a $135.41 death claim draft then vanished. Bank refunded the forged claimant and sued Prudential. JP judgment favored the bank and Sullens appealed to the circuit court.
Harry Shepard, who has been traveling for a Chicago firm, has closed a successful year and received notice of a salary increase for the coming season.
Missouri Pacific officials report Russell Harding is ill with grip at home and cannot meet until after January. A Kansas City Mercantile club committee continues site inquiries for Missouri Pacific shops with candidates around Cypress yards, Chelsea park, and Armoordale areas. The plan links to the Orient railroad and the Outer Belt project affecting Kansas City Kansas sites.
Ritchie Tent of the Knights of the Macca bees will hold an open house on December 31. Guests will enjoy dancing and cards with elegant refreshments as the Sec ond Regiment orchestra provides music for the New Year celebration.
