Christmas Exercises Dignify City Schools Year End
City schools held Christmas programs this afternoon with recitations songs and piano and violin solos. Emerson Dies In Jersey City After Hearing Bach
Charles W. Emerson aged 62 long time head of the motive power department at the Pennsylvania railroad died of pneumonia in Jersey City. A fourth cousin of Ralph Waldo Emerson he loved music and art and wrote books on these subjects. On his deathbed his daughter Josephine played Bach on the violin, while Emerson Ayres sang. Services were held at home with no minister present.
