A Supreme Court decision may open the prison and free many boodlers convicted on information. The ruling centers on procedural grounds affecting prior convictions and potential retrials for those involved in corruption cases.
In St Louis several defendants linked to the suburban franchise boodle face years in prison including Charles F Kelly two years and others four to five year terms for bribery and perjury. The Missouri Supreme Court responds to information verification rules in Bonner Kyle Moniteau county cases and upholds 1901 act requiring verification.
Frank Conrad wounded in leg and John Murphy beaten as police say they surprised two men robbing a safe in Jacob Wickenhofer's office. The incident ended with the suspects in custody and no further injuries reported.
Otto Reinch was arrested after a roommate reported a $260 theft from a trunk. Detectives found $135 recovered and traced gifts of 10 and 15 dollars to various people and debts repaid. Reinch, son of a Jefferson City area farmer, telegraphed his father for help.
Circuit Attorney Folk said the Missouri Supreme Court decision on habeas corpus could free many detainees arrested on information in St Louis. The Panama steamer City of Washington arrived in New York from Colon with the canal treaty properly signed by the officials of the new republic.
Captain and Mrs Edgar Eames of the Tenth United States Infantry recently returned from Manila visited Mr and Mrs N J Finney on Broadway before leaving Monday for a short stay with relatives in St Louis and elsewhere in Missouri. They will return later for a lengthy stay with Mr and Mrs Finner.
In Washington on December 15 Senator Hepburn introduced a joint resolution to acquire by annexation or otherwise the islands of San Domingo and its dependencies and San Dominico and Haiti. The measure was referred to the foreign relations committee. A report from United States Consul Simpson in Puerto Plata notes a new revolution across the Dominican island. The State Department has no confirmation of a plot to murder Minister Powell and is skeptical of the claim.
A joint installation of officers elected by the Order of Railway Conductors and the Ladies Auxiliary will be held in the K of P hall on East Fifth Street tomorrow night. After the ceremony the two lodges will share a banquet at Robinsons European hotel.
The father of Rev. W. T. Allan of Calvary Episcopal Church, William Temple Allen of Clarke County Virginia, is dying of paralysis. Born in 1816 at Clifton estate near Winchester, he was Princeton educated topographer, linguist, author of poems, served as private secretary to Commodore Jones aboard the United States, and fought in the Confederate army under General Turner Ashby. He has suffered multiple strokes and is largely paralyzed, with Allan unable to travel home.
Funeral services for Mrs Ida J McNulty were held at her home at 10:30 this morning with Rev E B Surface of the Cumberland Presbyterian church officiating. Floral tributes filled the casket and the burial took place in the city cemetery. Pallbearers included Woodmen of the World members Harry Collins John Reid Erastus Niece L Brunjes Walter Moore and Dell Seymour.

The H. C. Frick Coke company in Connellsville Pennsylvania and allied concerns announce a seventeen percent wage reduction for about three thousand workers, following a ten percent raise a year ago. The notice cites drastic changes in business conditions and coke prices as the reason for readjustment.
A silk shopping list highlights Black Peau de Soie and Crepe de Chine silks priced from 39c to $1.75. Items include Black Foulard, Black Crepe de Chine, Princess Crepe in colors, Fancy Waist and Dress Silks, Changeable Taffeta and Liberty Latin in black white and cream.
