By noon about 4,000 paid attendees are on grounds and more arrive on trains. weather improves, mud clears, and the Old Settlers Association organizes with new officers.

Heavy rains flood Flat Creek south of town with water across tracks and into the pumping station and power plant. Rail lines on Sedalia Warsaw and South western routes under water while M K and T runs with minor disruption. By afternoon flood receded enough to resume pumps and electricity is restored gradually. Heavy rain caused the Out of Its Banks pumping station on Flat Creek to flood last night. Water entered facilities, disrupting operations and prompting emergency response teams to assess damage. Authorities warned residents nearby to avoid low-lying areas.

San Francisco August 23 stockholders of the Western Pacific Railway company meet to authorize increasing capital stock from 50 million to 75 million. The firm has recently authorized 50 million of first mortgage bonds, with interest guaranteed by the Rio Grande Western Railway company.
