Stock Show at State Fair Showcases Elite Livestock Awards
The second day of the State Fair draws big crowds as exhibits are well arranged and praised. Judges name winners across cattle classes including Clydesdale, English Shire, Hackney, and dairy breeds with Clark Bros and E G Vaughan among top awardees.
Sheep Awards Highlight Illinoisan Wins
In the sheep department this morning Geo. Allen of Allerton Illinois took first and second prizes in the exhibit of lambs ewes and yearlings with minimal competition. Jno L Thompson of Gass City Indiana served as judge. F W Harding of Waukesha Wisconsin won first in ram two years old or over with second and third going to John A Haynes of Richmond Missouri and Harding also took first in yearling and ram lamb events. Eve two years old and over saw Harding win first with second and third awarded to others. Continued on page 5. State treasurer candidate F W Roer Jefferson City has announced plans to seek the Democratic nomination for state treasurer after twelve years as Cole County clerk. Elenister, a New York athlete, swam Niagara rapids this morning for a moving picture company, emerging half dead with injuries after hitting rocks. police had previously warned him against attempting the feat.

Announcement that the Sentinel will publish tomorrow at noon to allow its office staff a half day at the fair. Advertisers are urged to submit copy early if they want insertion in the issue.
ARE KILLING GREEKS
Four Greeks of high standing were found murdered and mutilated near Monastir. Greeks petition the Porte for rifles to defend themselves as Turkey sends 22 000 uniforms and 300 000 cartridges to the Bulgarian frontier. Mussellmen reported slain in the Monastir district and two Bulgarian villages razed. Turkish troops are in bad condition with weak commissary and administration.

The Missouri State Auctioneers Association held a morning meeting at city hall and welcomed six new members. Sam W. Kidd of Sedalia gave an address of welcome, with response from Col. C A Ewing of Lathrop Missouri. Attendance was smaller than expected but the session was enthusiastic.

Grand Army encampment opens in San Francisco with monster parade
The thirty seventh annual Grand Army of the Republic encampment begins in San Francisco with a large parade including Presidio troops, marines, naval forces and California National Guards. Crowds fill the streets as veterans march, while governors and mayors prepare receptions at Mechanics' Pavilion.

Collision sinks Chinese cruiser Huangtai. Empress of India saves many
In Hong Kong a collision between the Huangtai-Huangtai and the Empress of India sinks the cruiser. The captain and thirteen sailors perish. the liner rescues one hundred seventy passengers and is badly damaged. The Empress sailed July 27 from Vancouver to Hong Kong via Yokohama. Tomorrow governors Dockery and Bailey attend a Kansas State fair event with the agricultural board.

Rivers Subside After Kansas Flood Threat
The Anger waters have subsided with danger easing. In Kansas City Missouri the river is stationary and bridges remain unchanged. Stambots ferry intercity traffic between Kansas City and Kansas City. In Topeka the Kaw river stood 14.5 feet above low water at midnight, the highest since the June flood, now falling rapidly. Manhattan saw a three foot drop in the last 24 hours and danger is past.
