London reports a Balkan crisis likely to peak after alleged murder of the Russian consul at Monastir. A Russian squadron with four battleships four warships five destroyers and six torpedo boats sails to Turkish waters. Rome dispatches say Italy plans a volunteer corps to aid Bulgarian insurgents across the Adriatic.
Cool and pleasant weather welcomes the third annual gathering of Missouri products as the state fair opens with exhibitors in place and crowds gathering to tour the displays.

Belgrade reports the claimed murder of Dr Mandelstrom the Russian consul at Monastir remains unconfirmed. He was moved from Uskub to Monastir after Rastkowski's assassination and faced trouble obtaining a military escort before his departure.
Sam Brown of Arlington Heights reports a fine horse was stolen from his pasture yesterday. The theft occurred sometime during the day and is under investigation by local authorities. Brown asks anyone with information to contact police.
Flooding uproots the Kaw street car and wagon bridge in Kansas City Kansas, leaving three bridges gone and all communication by river. Gas mains and telephone cables along the street railway bridge are out as the river rises further and threatens remaining spans.
