Special to the Evening Sentinel from St Louis on April 27 reports Adjutant General Bell confirming mobilization plans for Missouri troops as a large Spanish fleet sails from the Philippines toward Dewey, signaling an imminent naval engagement.
Special to the Evening Sentinel reports that the U S vessel Terror captured the Spanish ship Abolwar this morning and brought her into port at Key West. Dewey's forces are in high spirits as news of the first naval engagement spreads worldwide.
Jefferson City April 27. The entire Missouri guard stands prepared to march. Governor Stephens awaits a response from the secretary of war in Washington to finalize orders.
It is expected that orders to the colonels of the different regiments will be sent out within a few hours regarding arrangements for the boys who now will wear the blue.

Funeral at the German Evangelical church likely Saturday conducted by Revs Wm Meyer and F Umbach.
