Special to the Evening Seminee reports the U S board pressing action on maritime moves toward Montserrat. Washington dispatches detail reinforced measures as authorities pursue tighter control of shipping routes and sealing procedures during the current crisis.
Transport on board and escorted by the cruiser Montgomery set sail from Fort Monroe on April 26 amid enthusiasm and head toward Key West. In Jefferson City Missouri the war department telegram prompted Adjutant General Bell to act immediately after reception.
A downtown coal dealer promotes cheap coal including Rich Hill Nut Lexington and Whipple grades of soft coal. They offer Scranton anthracite seasoned wood and various building supplies. Yard and office addresses are given with contact number.

Adjutant General Bell reports 6,000 drilled men, 3,000 National Guard and 3,000 ex-members, with five regiments of 12 companies at 100 men each.
