Henry W. Hickman former Missouri railroad commissioner was killed when a tree fell on his buggy near Puxico Stoddard County. A companion injured died later. Hickman long guided Missouri politics and was a candidate for lieutenant governor in 1896.

A Cincinnati firm and Seda lia Saloonkeeper Julius Clausius had goods and fixtures attached, posted on his East Second street saloon door. The notice names G Price as constable. Clausius was arrested on a rape charge and later nolled. Obituary pricing note follows. Harrison Stevens offer extra carriages for bails, weddings, and events with telephone 167.
A local advertisement promotes cheap coal from Whipple for Rich Hill Nut Lexington and other soft coal grades plus Scranton anthracite and seasoned wood. The display and music aim to draw a large crowd along the thoroughfares and at the drill site.
