The city council convened at 8 pm with a large crowd to hear the new officials named. Officers for each ward, city clerk, engineer, weighmaster, physicians, policemen, and department heads were announced and unanimously approved.
The St. Joseph News notes Chicago voters favored municipal ownership of street railways and lighting plants by large margins. The editorial says the trend signals a broader public demand for city control, warns franchises must reimburse the city, and urges statutes to empower cities to manage local utilities.
Constable Robb reports only three judgments collected from 150 tax cases and 41 left unpaid. Judge Rogers urges city council help as seventy seven executions and many “not found” or “no good” returns hinder tax recovery. Robb says diligence was used and partial payments may be possible.

Mrs. M. P. Dillon, wife of traveling man Mr. Dillon, died at her Edmonson home on March 30 from congestion of the brain. She was married only a month, daughter of M. G. Swearingen and a prominent Baptist member. License issued February 28 by County Recorder Looney in Sedalia.
