Man Falls From Steamer Dolphin Dies By Drowning

Edward McArdle a former fireman for Treadwell mines on Douglas Island Alaska, died by his own action jumping from the Dolphin near Port Townsend. Coroner removed the body to Shutterworth morgue. He was about 40, had been drinking from Juneau and tried to obtain morphine before leaping. He laid belongings on a beer keg and walked to the bow. Lifesaving efforts failed. the death is ruled a suicide.
