Japanese Worker Killed by Train at Van Asselt

O Maritsu a Japanese section hand for the Columbia & Puget Sound railway was instantly killed when run over by a Northern Pacific passenger train at Van Asselt station shortly before 9 am. He stepped into the path of a second train and was ground to death under engine 100, the driver unable to stop in time. The body was brought to Seattle and placed in the Bonney-Watson morgue. Coroner Hoye announced no inquest, deeming the death accidental.
