Anton Tanzer owner of the Hotel Schenley was arrested last Friday night for keeping a disorderly house at 1419 Fourth Avenue and was tried before Judge Gordon and found not guilty. He was arrested with several women during the raid. The cases against the women were continued.
Maj B C Kingsbury a prominent Spokane mining man is in the city and re registers at the Rainier Grand. He holds several rich claims on Furnace Creek near Death Valley.
The circuit court of appeals dismissed Columbia George's habeas corpus petition at the request of the federal district attorney. The Indian remains under life sentence at McNeil's Island for the murder of another Indian.
The Alaska cable broke yesterday morning and was repaired by the afternoon with messages sent north after 2 p m. yesterday.
Frank Smith a drage t a s clerk was picked up near Third and Union at 1 oclock this morning by Patrolman Poolman with a broken foot. He was taken to Wayside hospital and could not state the cause of the accident. Dr McDougall attended.
A large fire in McDonald Avenue last night destroyed half a block of frame stores in California City’s business district. The total loss was estimated around 10 000 dollars. Early today another alarm at Coal Bunkers on Railroad Avenue and Charles Street led to a quick extinguishing with an estimated 10 dollar loss.

Ringgold Ga Sept 12 In a Western Atlantic road wreck this morning engineer W W Fisher and seven other trainmen were killed. The collision involved two fast freight trains and was caused by mistaken orders.
