A Great Northern passenger train struck an automobile at Palmer siding four miles north of Colville at noon yesterday. In Detroit on September 5 a brick building on Mullet Street collapsed after a gas explosion. Five men were arrested amid claims the blast was planned to collect insurance. The dead, all reportedly asleep on stairway landings, include Blanche McDonald and Catherine Burroughs.
Three gunmen sparked a subway riot after a door jammed early today. One man died from a skull fracture as 1,200 passengers panicked. Two gunmen were beaten. a third escaped down an elevated track with two revolvers after clashing with bystanders and police.

In Spokane on September 5, 24 year old Williams died after threats and a knife wound. J B Henry, 27, is held by police on murder charges.
