Leon F. Czolgosz died in the electric chair at Auburn prison at 7:15 AM after three electric onsets, the first lasting thirty seconds. Witnesses described his last words as I am heartily sorry I did not see my father. The autopsy found normal brain and organs. He refused spiritual aid and conducted his final hours largely alone.
Washington October 29. State Department says agents in Constantinople Sofia have confirmed contact with Miss Stone. The agency notes communication established but provides no further details on her condition or location.
Entombed miner Charles Bringham, trapped since the cave-in at Highland Bay Mine in Bringham Utah, was rescued alive yesterday after enduring hours underground. Rescue teams reported his condition as stable and he was removed from the shaft for medical checkup.
In Tacoma on Oct 29 Riley B Smallwood, 19, faces a superior court trial for stabbing woodcutter A M Sagar in the St Paul saloon on Jefferson Avenue. First witness Jacob Kambell testified Smallwood sought a revolver and clearly aimed to strike. The defense has 25 witnesses summoned while the state prosecutes the case.
Annie Rooney was jailed in Seattle after a 60 day suspended sentence for leaving town. She pledged to quit drinking but relapsed, attempting to riot in Washington Street before being arrested and returned to jail. The court offered a final chance conditional on leaving the city, which she could not meet.
In Victoria, Oct 29 the government at Washington notified the agent of the Marine Department that a scheme to pro a perception to the inlet and influence the provincial government has been reported. The message addresses the tribesmen and outlines efforts to secure outcomes through official channels.
John B Hedg e, a pioneer of Pierce county, died suddenly here early morning of poisoning. He served as county assessor and later county treasurer, with a long career in the state and Oregon.
The HCE steamer John Kimball departed this afternoon on a round trip to Frisco. A full crew manned the vessel as it set sail amid general merchandise traffic. The service resumes regular runs between here and Frisco with plans for subsequent trips.

Last night at the Order of Washington meeting unrest erupted over a committee report accusing supreme officers of fraud. President J K Parker, who appointed the committee, walked out throwing his badge. others followed. Supreme officers defended their authority with certificates and documents while Parker chaired briefly and then relinquished control amid strong objections about procedure.
After a heated meeting Parker insisted on staying in the chair but was booed down and left in disgust. Mrs. Ida Boyer filled the chair, and a unanimous vote found Parker in error, with impeachment drafted for disorder and suspension. Parker refused further involvement, citing suppressed disclosures and hurt feelings.
Yale crew training for next season starts in New Haven under Captain P. Kunsig. Three crews will form the squad as the program moves into early preparations.
Butte Montana October 29. The Amalgamated Copper Co copper mines and smelter reopen after a shutdown that idled 10,000 miners. The shutdown ended due to a machinery break in concentrators rather than an effort to influence copper prices.
Frank Rafael reports Jack O'Brien the famed New York lightweight seeks a bout with local fighter Dick Case. O'Brien, known nationwide, may step into the ring after Case faces Perry Queen in an upcoming match. Phil Snowden notes the O'Brien match would follow that bout.
At Pretoria on October 2 a British force under Col. Remington surprised General Botha and his Boer contingent. Botha fled by a few hundred yards, leaving his hat, revolver and papers behind. Ten prisoners were taken, including Cmdt Hans Botha. Earlier near Zeerust a Boer attack on British lines failed with heavy casualties. Forty British dead, two lieutenants and 24 men killed, six officers and 80 men wounded, 37 escort wounded. The Boers seized eight wagons.

A plan for a new four story hotel is discussed for Beattle. It would stand on second avenue south opposite the former Moses lock site recently sold to Hyde of Deer Lodge Montana. Hyde will oversee preparations as capitalists fund the project and work should begin soon.
The steamer Chas Nelson, Capt. Schage, arrived from the Southeast canning stations with 14 000 cases of salmon aboard and six tons of fmnpop hy. Cannery men and 87 Chinese passengers were aboard. Carlson of Taku Packing Co. and J G Nelson of Yess Hayee were notable passengers, along with C Spear of Olympic Mining Co. and families from Rice Fisheries Co.
Seattle fishermen halt work and refuse salmon payments of 10 to 16 cents per fish. They demand 16 cents for seine outfits, accusing dealers of excessive profits while canneries pay only 6 cents. The P P N Co cannery remains shut until fish supply returns.
The cross-examination of Admiral Behley resumed this morning as Schley answered questions with candor. He testified that the Spanish fleet would have been defeated regardless of its location and that the fleet showed readiness in engagement.

Merchants opposed more liquor venues, sending a petition, while O Leary and Stuart pressed their case amid ongoing contention.
Some thirty classmates from the College of Our Lady of Lourdes South Park attended the funeral of Charles Henry Daniela. They marched from Collins Sherman Foley Co undertaking parlors to Sacred Heart Church where a requiem mass was celebrated before burial at Calvary.
