Amazing Escape as Infant Survives Elevator Fall at Standard House
A four month old boy narrowly escaped death yesterday afternoon when a faulty elevator shaft door at the Standard House Furnishing Co store opened and the child fell into the shaft. The baby wedged between the cage and shaft roof at the street level, breaking the fall and suffering only injuries from the jam. He will recover. Mrs. Ohm and a clerk were examining furniture on the fourth floor when the accident occurred. The child’s mother suspects the shaft door was left partly open by attendants.
