Robbers wrecked the cafe in the Bank of Odin during a morning robbery and escaped with about $6,000. They held off 100 citizens, waking residents in night clothes as local guards threatened bystanders while the raid finished.
District Attorney confronts upheaval as Langdon Heney clash with Ruef and Gallagher. A restraining order blocks police move to arrest and augments fears of bloodshed while the grand jury plans to indict municipal figures for felonies.

Voters approved annexation 221 to 9 in a August poll. a citizens meeting on October 22 enjoined council action. Officials were served notices to appear in court next Tuesday.
English sailor J. W. Jenkinson was held up near police headquarters by three men who demanded he halt. He ran to the station shouting for help. Patrolman Phillips fired at one, capturing Matt Matson, a Finn, held at headquarters without charge.
The national W C T U convention opened in Hartford on October 4 with National President Mrs Stevens of Maine urging defense of the anti canteen law and opposing claims that posts lack canteens. She also backed a national amendment against polygamy and announced a $250 exhibit grant for Jamestown.

Anton Reynolds an Italian drowned while attempting to save Superintendent Paige of the Bellingham Bay and British Columbia railroad from the flooded Nooksack river. Paige was only slightly hurt as the river changed course, thousands of acres flooded and tracks cut.

In Chillicothe Ohio Oct 26 robbers dynamited the post office safe this morning and escaped with 200 dollars. Authorities suspect the same gang had earlier taken about 300 dollars from the Baltimore and Ohio railroad ticket office.
Committees representing the Switchmen's unions of the United States rejected a proposed 2 cent an hour wage increase offered by railroads in Chicago. They insist on the original demands: 42 cents per hour for switchmen 88 cents for hespera and an eight hour day. Despite the setback both sides see little chance of a strike. Railroad managers remain conciliatory and offer increased wages but refuse to cut working hours.
