Anarchist Trial Began In Police Court

The trial of 8. Bearcliffe opened yesterday afternoon in the police court on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was arrested by Patrolman W C Hubbard Tuesday night for publicly advocating anarchistic sentiments and urging laborers to rebel against U S laws. The case was continued until next Wednesday to allow more witnesses.

Deaf Inmate Sarah Purtee Found In Cave East Of City

After a four nine week search Sarah Purtee a deaf and mute inmate of the county infirmary escaped and was found yesterday in a cave three miles east of the city in a pitiable condition. Her clothing was ragged and she wore two coffee sacks over her garments to stay warm. Her feet were torn and bleeding from rocks and bushes as she subsisted on roots and berries.

Arrests in $40,000 Dawson Embezzlement Case

George Daniels a cashier for Bartech and Co who aided Carstens Bros wholesalers faced arrest after a $40,000 embezzlement he staged by '43. He fled via Nome to Seattle and was captured aboard the Portland with accomplice R. Noblett. Daniels held on theft charges and to be sent to Dawson. Noblett charged with concealing stolen goods.
