The International Bank and Trust Company of America fails at 1006 Second Avenue Seattle causing depositors to gather outside. Otto Ottensen, the manager, and M D Barnes are named in the report with the failure attributed to mismanagement. Police maintain order as the event unfolds.
At Pittsburg on Water street a derrick crane collapsed during construction of the Wabash Railway bridge. Nine men were killed and five seriously injured as wreckage plunged into the river and a barge carrying steel sank. Rescue efforts recovered four bodies while others were retrieved from the water. Officials report eight dead and four injured at 6 o’clock with one body still trapped beneath the sunken barge. Names of the deceased include James Meehan George Well William Kittinger and We Kempton.
A fatal hunting accident near Palmer is reported to Coroner Boge. Peter G Bowen, a 12 year old boy from a ranch near Kampiey, shot himself in the abdomen and lost his left hand. His companion Oxford Johnson carried him home. the lad died en route. Bowen had worked at Miller’s logging camp near Kaneley.
Capt John Johnson's halibut schooner went aground in fog near Five-Mile Rock west of Seattle while being towed from Halibut Banks with 26.09 fish cargo. Tug will haul off at high tide. crew evacuated to the Yeenel. Separate fog incident: City of Denger freighter collided with a tug near Everett. damage included bent stem and shaken crew aboard the Denver.
Detectives Lané and Eason with a Patrolman arrested Will Howard alias Kid Riley on suspicion of the Cedar Street Fourth Avenues home invasion that targeted Mrs. Frank McIntyre Saturday evening. Authorities say his mother lives nearby and strong evidence is believed to exist.
A masked robber burst into Mrs. McIntyre's home with a revolver and seized her savings in five $29 gold pieces. Police traced the suspect Howard to a room above the Jackey Club on Main street, noting clothing and timing linked to the crime. He had returned to his mother's house before nightfall and is described as a would-be thief with local notoriety.
Skyward Dawson reports worsening winter ahead with freight delays from upriver due to low water. Hay prices soar to 1129 per ton as steamers halt, rivers freeze and many residents depart for outside areas fearing a severe season.

The body found in a Phoenix hotel is identified as George Torney a wealthy Tacoma truck gardener. Police consider murder a possibility though Torney reportedly had money on him when he was last seen and the circumstances remain unclear.
A man found Sunday night in an assisted room died of a brain hemorrhage, possibly caused by gas rather than asphyxiation. Coroner Hoye will investigate the case as authorities assess how he ended up with little money.
Police arrested eight men in two early morning raids led by Sergeant Powers and Patrolmen Mason Bryant and Damm. At Third Avenue and Washington Street six men were seized including Ames Wright Bert Devlin and J W Coogan. A second raid at Fourth Avenue and Main Street netted J B King and Irene Arment, both white.
