Indianapolis Oct 14 A Pennsylvania passenger train collided with an engine in the railroad yards at the city eastern limits. The fireman in the passenger engine was killed instantly and several cars left the track. One trainman died and many passengers were injured but none seriously.
Donald McDonald cites Lucy McDonald for divorce on grounds of desertion and cruelty after 11 years apart. He claims she deserted him due to vast wealth and his lack of dowry. The couple married in 1878 and have not lived together since.
The Boston Americans shut out the Pittsburgh Nationals in a thrilling game to clinch the world baseball championship. Pitcher Dineen delivered a clever performance with sharp defense and a late strikeout of Wagner. Criger Wagner Leach starred on defense with running catches by Beaumont and Prothero, as the crowd celebrated with the champions carried to the dressing room.
The Beattie Typographical Union celebrated its twenty first anniversary with a social at Christensen's hall last evening. A musical program and literary features followed by a dance drew a largely attended gathering.

The San Francisco team of the Pacific league arrived in the city and will play at Recreation Park this afternoon. Catcher Dave Zearfoes, familiar to local fans, is noted as a key figure for the visitors who hope to start the series with a victory. Jay Hughes will mix the lineup for San Francisco.
D B Carr admitted to petty larceny during his grand larceny trial in superior court and will be sentenced Saturday. He worked as a driver for Beatty Transfer Co and is said to have carried trunks and clothes. In a separate incident, Dr EB Stanley was knocked down near Second Avenue and Pike Street, breaking his ankle.
William Buttner a Beattle area real estate agent vanished months ago and was yesterday charged in Justice Cann's court with obtaining money under false pretenses. Prosecutor Waller Pulten filed the complaint for Merman Daniels alleging that Buttner in February 1902 claimed he ran a general banking business and Daniels, trusting him, deposited 696 dollars. Daniels later learned the bank was fictitious and Buttner may be located in Messso. If possible he will be extradited.
Delegates from major city unions gathered at Teamsters hall to form a temporary Western Central Labor union and draft a constitution. A steering committee led by A E White and Gordon A Rice was named, with a meeting planned for November 1 at Walterreen hall to finalize by laws and structure.

Justice Cann ruled no one may block an alley even by council permit. The Pacific block owners were found trespassers for tearing away part of a stairway while Dan McGovern was acquitted, with evidence showing the alley could not accommodate vehicle passage.
Captain Andrew T. Lowell and wife of Beattie near home after a 1000 mile voyage aboard the schooner Willie A. Holden. The vessel reached Lahaina Hawaii on October 6 with lumber from Ballard to East London then Newcastle and the islands, returning directly from the last port.
