Miss Frankie Kiolet Seattle's movie girl contest winner plans a dinner party for the 11 finalists. Only 10 remain in the city. Miss Hilda Byler has gone to Los Angeles to pursue pictures. Kiolet appears at Clemmer theatre all week and works on new film projects. She plans swimming lessons at Crystal Pool before heading to Universal City for film work. Crowds recognize her from The Star photos at the Clemmer and daily cafe visits.
Police search for J. Groves missing since May 19 after leaving home to visit relatives in Port Orchard. In ill health, about 145 pounds, medium height, gray suit, soft green hat. Groves resided at 1123 28th Ave and was a grocer.
Alfred Underhill went to the state penitentiary to begin a term for criminal assault but could not be admitted due to lack of commitment papers. He returned home to await court action and the papers being issued on June 6.
J F E Dixon of Hollister apartments narrowly escaped death when a Reo truck was hurled 25 feet into the bay by a railroad engine. Dixon, badly battered, clung to a pier until a passerby rescue squad pulled him from the water after his view was blocked by empty box cars at Clayet crossing.
Letta Parsons a 13 year old bride is placed in state probation supervision after being granted freedom on a murder charge. She will be educated and trained by state officials and not stand trial for manslaughter. Judge Houck cited alienist findings that she has the mind of an eight year old. She may not return to her Iron Mountain home with her wood chopper husband.
California's mighty ten captured the 45th Eastern track and field championships at Harvard Stadium Cambridge May 28 with 27% points. Harvard finished a half point behind in second place, while the Pacific coast team led by the Californians dominated the meet.
The Star argues the university regents must be judged on business grounds not prejudice. It calls for full facts on Metropolitan Building company obligations and possible new construction to decide if the hotel extension benefits the university and state.
Divers search the bottom of Lake Union for the Mahoney trunk while Prosecutor Douglas declares strong evidence of murder. Lee Johnston contends the police theory is false and that Mrs. Mahoney may be traveling in the East, with her second will missing and forged documents under scrutiny.

Reports from a coasting vessel claim a Japanese schooner was caught taking seals and sunk by the Canadian government fisheries patrol vessel Malashina near Prince Rupert British Columbia. No official confirmation has been received.
Tongue Point naval base site formally enters possession by the U S navy department in Astoria Oregon. Chairman J N Stone of the port commission presented the deeds on behalf of Clatsop County citizens and Commander W B Allison accepted. Surveys and initial construction work will start next week.
Police search for a former suitor who may explain the slaying of 18 year old Josephine Howard a telephone operator. She was shot by an unidentified man as she returned from a movie with University of Pennsylvania student Frank Sullivan. The assailant fled after firing twice. her mother says the suitor had bothered the girl for years and had been forbidden to see her.
William M. Langen filed suit in Milwaukee against George Slandich seeking 35 cents paid for liver that he says was unfit to eat. Langen claims the butcher refused to refund the money.
Three inmates named John Lienert John Taini and J B Smith escaped from the county stockade Friday night. Deputy sheriffs organized a search and notified police and officials in other counties to look for the trio.
Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, famed American ace, landed in Dayton from Chicago just after 10 a.m. today and departed at 11:06 a.m. for Washington in his own plane. In Bremerton, Mrs. Lucy Jones, a longtime Washington resident of 23 years, has died.
In Cottage Grove Oregon on May 18 18 month old Henry Sanders suffered facial and body injuries after a large Ancona rooster attacked him. The rooster Frederich Wilhelm was humanely executed this morning for the attack. The Sanders family had kept the bird as a barnyard prize and the incident led to the swift end of the rooster.
Deputy Sheriff R E Murphy was struck in the left knee by a return shot on Friday when bootleggers fired on him on the Bothell highway. Officers later seized a car tied to H Johnson of Tacoma containing five liquor sacks and two sacks of beer. In custody are Martin Peterson 28 and John Engdahl 38.
