Philadelphia May 27. Grover Bergdoll millionaire draft dodger’s entire estate seized under the trading with the enemy act. Colonel Miller and Major Carroll led the action and notified Emma Bergdoll, with banks instructed to sequester accounts. the Bergdoll Brewing plant also attached. Alien property custodians to administer the estate.
James A. McKeon, veteran of World War I, returned home to find work in Todd Dry Docks but received only a twenty cent paycheck after his five dollar poll tax deduction. Gov. Hart notes the poll tax aimed at curb the itinerant class.
Deputy Sheriff Murphy was shot in the leg while pursuing a liquor-smuggling auto on the Foothell highway. Motorcycle Patrolman A. J. Hill halted the car without drawing his weapon, capturing two men, Martin Peterson and John Engdahl, and seizing four cases of whisky two sacks of beer and a gin case. The suspects were booked on an open charge. Hill drove them to a grocery and telephoned for a patrol wagon. Murphy led a posse minutes later, but the gunfire wounded him only grazing his leg.

Frank H Wheeler 67, a millionaire and executive in Wheeler Schebler Carburetor and Langeen kamp Wheeler Brass, died at his Riverside home. The butler found the body in a bathroom after he reportedly took his own life. Wheeler helped organize the Indianapolis Motor Speedway company.
Captain Eddie Rickenbacker arrives in Omaha as a passenger on a regular air mail plane at 11:50 am after a crash near Cheyenne last night. He will depart on the east bound mail flight at 1:20 pm piloted by Hopson, with Iowa City as the next stop.
Charles Cato, 88 Post Street, was nearly killed when a stranger offered Jamaica Ginger and pulled a razor after he refused. The assailant pursued him from First Avenue and Battery Street to Cedar Street in the incident reported.
