President Wilson curtly refused a delegation of business men urging postponement of trust bills. He warned that continued opposition to moderate amendments could bring a more drastic law and urged patriotic cooperation, calling the current mood psychological and insisting action be moderate now.
Police Chief Griffiths releases an order praising officers for preventing further Lake Washington accidents and recovering two drownings last Friday. Witnesses recall the mother of one victim crying for two hours as police awaited action while spectators watched the race.
Members of the Seattle Retail Grocers' association voted to close their stores on Me Day. Retail clothing stores will remain open all day Saturday Memorial Day. Ontario underground miners now have an eight hour day.
Four young senoritas from Mexico City travel with their father Emilio Rabasa one of Huerta's mediators at the Niagara Falls conference. The group includes Ruth Mercedes and Concepcion, listed from left to right with a teacher among them.

Washington reports a settlement of the Mexican troubles was expected soon both with the United States and among domestic factions. Secretary Bryan said the rebels situation would clear within 24 hours while Judge Douglas, Carranza’s lawyer, endorsed the view and a protocol was predicted to be signed at Niagara Falls within a week.

In Brownsville Pennsylvania Mrs Lydia Gaskill 72 and Miss Nancy Hagar 68 each mother ten children. After 50 years of marriage Lydia accuses Morgan Gaskill 70 of fathering Nancy's ten children leading to a court case with Miss Hagar posting bail. The town recalls their Civil War veteran husband and coal miner, with both families intertwined over decades.
Officer Tobin testified Liesch drove a rickety auto down Yesler, veered into First, then backed at speed. Judge Gordon called it a serious matter and fined Liesch $75, noting a rule applies despite a good record. C. F. Drew fined $16 for speeding and William Ogden $25 on the same charge.

Phoenix, May 28. Chemical analysis is underway of water from a well dug by City Health Officer Bidwell on his ranch. Bidwell says the water is effervescent and sparkling, but several laborers who drank it showed unmistakable signs of intoxication. The effects faded then renewed with another draught.
Attorney George Olson frets over a looming suit against his client L. L. Vellat who refuses to pay a $5 cancellation charge for not keeping the telephone a year. Olson suspects the telephone company delays to induce payment. present indications say the company will not have the money by cow time.
Half blind Serb Mitar Mendedovitch won justice after three months of legal turmoil. Judge Everett Smith ordered attorney R P Allen to return 418.25, condemning a 350 fee as excessive. Allen kept 350 after handling collections for Mendedovitch and passing accounts to George Perovitch who was later convicted of embezzlement.
The port commission postponed awarding a contract for a warm and cold storage warehouse at the foot of Bell Street. The delay affects plans for the facility serving the port and local cargo operations.
N. Bogoravlensky, the Russian consul for the Northwest states and Alaska, has opened his offices in the Willard hotel, signaling a new consular presence in the area.
GC. W. Doyle told the Central Labor council that the new charter favors corporations and should be defeated. President T. H.
