A apparently insane man halted a dozen motorists on the Pacific Highway at Morningside station near Lake Forest Park. He blocked the road with timber and feigned a wreck around a curve. He held his hand as if armed and refused to speak, but took nothing before fleeing as deputies arrived.
Five hundred men battle a morning forest fire on the north Vancouver shore sweeping a ten mile wide area. More than 300 persons live within the threatened zone and fears for their safety grow as British Columbia reports one million dollars in fire damage over the past two days.
Rollison a 35 year old laborer, plagued by monthly fits from heart leakage, bought a gun after voicing desire to die. He first fired at a bluff near Alkiar, then shot himself. Found by a lineman, he survived and asked to live. Doctors report the fit ended.
Magdalina Werner, 26, was found not guilty of complicity in the murder of her 52 year old husband Henry Werner, an Imm guah rancher, after a two hour and forty five minute jury deliberation. The verdict followed testimony including a signed confession involving Frank Piconi, who faces trial June 8.
