Floyd Allen of the Allen gang was found guilty of first degree murder in Wytheville after a 21 hour jury deliberation. He faces the death penalty for the Hillsville courthouse shooting that killed Judge Thornton Massey and others. Relatives wept but Allen remained unmoved as detectives guarded the courtroom.

Medford Oregon May 17 Eben McIntyre 84 of McMinnville has secured a license to wed Elizabeth Gilmore 70 of Gold Hill. The couple will reside in McMinnville. They were youthful sweethearts in an eastern state but lost touch when McIntyre moved west years ago.
