Costs Not To Go To 14 Level By Albert Apple
Cost of living may drop to only 4 fourth higher than 1914 but it will not go lower. John Drum of the American Bankers Association says most consider prices will fall to 1914 levels within two or three years. Leather and shoe trades are returning to normal. wages remaining high mean shoe prices rise. Automobile production runs at about three-fifths capacity. cheap tires are returning. Bank clearings exceed 1919 levels, and April building operations reach the best since 1920 with $220.9 million contracts.
