Sheriff cites danger from fire in old county court house

Sheriff Hodge told county commissioners that nearly 100 prisoners face constant risk due to unaddressed fire hazards in the old court house. He described a criminal condition from neglect to provide jail quarters in the new county building at Third Ave and James St. Loose paper and flammable material clutter floors in offices vacated in the old building and doors remain open allowing access to the upper floors.

Sailors Injured in Auto Crash Involving Learner Driver

Fifteen sailors leave Mr and Mrs C T Seymour residence at 1527 Seventh Avenue after a car struck them. Rupert Davies, a learner driver, was at the wheel when the accident occurred.

Hear Boat Rate Case Tuesday Protests Over Fare Hike

The Central Labor Council of Seattle protested a Tacoma boat rate increase. The Public Service Commission moved the hearing to Tacoma for next Tuesday at the Tacoma Commercial Club. The Puget Sound Navigation Co. hike would raise round trips 60 to 60 cents and singles 35 to 40 cents amid a current strike and disputed payroll practices.
